Wilkinson’s annual Red Cross Blood Drive & Barbecue was held on June 14 at the company’s offices. This year saw a record number of donors and provided a record number of units collected for the five-hour event.

Wilkinson’s director of investor relations and the event’s organizer, Kellee Mains, reported that 24 donors registered, which included Wilkinson team members, family, and friends; employees from a neighboring business; and walk-ins or online registrants. Eight of the 24 were first-time donors.

The total number of units of blood collected was 21. “Each unit of blood can help up to three people,” Mains reported.

In a follow-up letter, the territory representative for the local American Red Cross noted that “The efforts of Wilkinson Corporation have always been greatly appreciated and their support of the community blood program will go a long way toward replenishing blood supplies and ultimately saving lives. Thank you for your contribution and ongoing support of this important community program.”

Responding to a critical need communicated by the local Red Cross, Mains also coordinated a drive in January that brought in 16 pints.
