October 2018 - The Elliot Park Hotel Officially Opens
On October 3, 2018, the Elliot Park Hotel officially celebrated its grand opening with an open house. Attendees included members of the community; Wilkinson company staff, family, and friends; and members of the other companies that worked to bring the project to fruition. August 2017 – Wilkinson Development, LLC, and Partners Break Ground on Construction of New Downtown Minneapolis Luxury Hotel
YAKIMA, WA, August 4, 2017 – Construction is commencing on the Elliot Park Hotel, a new Marriott® Autograph Collection® luxury full-service hospitality project in downtown Minneapolis, MN. Yakima, WA-based developer, Wilkinson Development, LLC, is proud to be spearheading the Elliot project. Wilkinson Development is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wilkinson Corporation.
A symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was held at the project site on Tuesday, August 1, commemorating the partnership of companies and joint venture investors involved in the Elliot’s design and start of construction.
Over the last year, Wilkinson Development (WD) has formed partnerships with key industry leaders to bring the vision of the Elliot to fruition. The total hotel project cost is estimated at $50 million. On June 30, 2017, WD closed on the acquisition of the hotel development site and will continue to oversee project construction, with an anticipated opening date in late summer/early fall 2018.
The Elliot Park Hotel will be a 168-room, eight-story, full-service hotel in one of Minneapolis’ oldest downtown neighborhoods. It will offer over 2,300 square feet of high-end event space and boardrooms, a fireside lounge, fitness center, valet, concierge, and luxury guest rooms. Its central location will provide easy access to the Convention Center and other event venues, like the U.S. Bank Stadium. Tavola, the hotel’s farm-to-table Italian restaurant, will include the warm, inviting feeling and decidedly local brand of hospitality echoed throughout the property.
The hotel is part of a larger block redevelopment that includes: the new corporate headquarters of Kraus-Anderson, one of WD’s partners and the project site’s master developer and general contractor; a 17-story residential apartment tower currently underway; a microbrewery; and outdoor common areas and underground parking.

Kraus-Anderson, General Contractor, has deep experience in the construction of many high-quality boutique hotels and is consistently ranked as one of the leading general contracting and construction management firms in the United States, as well as among the top five in Minnesota for total construction volume for several years.
ESG Architecture & Design, Designer, is a seasoned hospitality design firm with a portfolio of projects in Minneapolis, including the Aloft Hotel by Starwood, the W Hotel, Foshay Tower and the Renaissance Marriott Hotel at the Depot, along with the Sheraton Hotel and Condominiums in Duluth, MN.
Company B, a Marriott® Autograph Collection® preferred branding agency, created the hotel’s brand. “Stay in the Moment,” Elliot’s brand tagline, sums up how the hotel will be an unforgettable addition to the Marriott® Autograph Collection®. Close to many downtown attractions, the Elliot is walkable, approachable and part of the community in which it is being developed. “Warm and welcoming, urban and sophisticated, Elliot Park Hotel delights in delivering special moments through inviting guest rooms, enticing food and beverage and the spark of both fire and conversation.” The intent of the Elliot brand is to embody the Danish feeling of “hygge,” as Company B explains, “to make every day more beautiful, special and meaningful…in the collectiveness of quiet moments, sincere engagement and special touches that leave a sense of calm satisfaction.”
The Elliot Park Hotel will be operated by Coury Hospitality, best known for its Ambassador Hotel Collection of Marriott®-branded boutique hotels, restaurants, bars, event spaces and world-class award-winning service. Among Coury’s many accolades, one of its hotels—the Ambassador Tulsa—was ranked ninth by TripAdvisor among the top 25 U.S. hotels in 2017, and ended 2016 as the number one full-service hotel on Marriot’s global guest satisfaction survey. With five additional Autograph Collection® hotels underway, Coury Hospitality’s geographic reach will expand from Oklahoma and Kansas, to include Texas, Minnesota, Indiana and Wisconsin.
