To address this, a few weeks ago, several Wilkinson team members joined the Yakima Rotary Club and spent an afternoon putting together desk kits for delivery to students at Adams Elementary School in Yakima. Once received by students and their families, new desks will be assembled and placed in a dedicated workspace. With over 700 students, Adams is home to an enrollment of students who are 83% economically disadvantaged and 96% ethnic minority*. With the help of Yakima Rotarians, nearly 200 desk kits have been delivered to second- and third-grade students who need them at home. This project represents a significant collaboration between Yakima Rotary, the Yakima School district, many local area suppliers and workshops as well as dozens of Rotarian volunteers.
